This course covers six essential areas of information for the HR professional to help understand Human Resources Information Systems, and provide a knowledge toolkit for working with the IT department and software vendors. We will also cover the selection process and implementation of a Human Capital Management system, and survey the market place looking at single solution vendors and a “best of breed” approach.

1. What is HRIS and what is a Human Capital Management System (HCM)?
2. Choosing an HCM system that works for your business.
3. Putting a new HCM system to work for your business.
4. Working with software vendors, and IT colleagues (IT is from Mars, HR is from Venus)
5. Understanding IT terminology, processes, concerns, and language!
6. Survey of the HCM marketplace – a look at top vendors
